The 86-year-old woman fell to the ground at her home, causing severe cervical spine trauma to the C2 vertebral body fracture and central spinal cord injury. The cervical spine with tetraplegia and unstable cervical spine needed to be temporarily stabilized when she was admitted to the hospital.

Later, a minimally invasive neurosurgery operation will be performed to insert screws on the C1 and C2 cervical vertebrae to keep the unstable fracture healing and the central nervous system no longer harmed.

However, screws with incorrect angles and depths will cause permanent damage to the aorta and central spinal cord nerves and nerves of the posterior cervical spine (blood supply to the brainstem), resulting in life-long inability to breathe, paralysis of the limbs or life-threatening.

Therefore, it is necessary to accurately calculate the angle and depth of the screw and the team of neurosurgery specialists who are skilled in the treatment of the skull base, cervical spine and internal cerebrovascular stents. Very precise screw up to stabilize the cervical spine and protect the central nerve and posterior cervical spine ( Blood to the brainstem).

She can finally recover completely.

(#) This is an individual case, and the actual results vary from person to person.
